Deck the halls with boughs of holly….

We all have holiday traditions. Our family celebrates Christmas. Most years we start “decking the halls” the weekend after Thanksgiving. We celebrate the life of our Savior, Jesus Christ, all throughout the year but December is when we choose to focus on the celebration of his birth. Even if he may not have been born this time of year, December is such a cold stark time in our part of the country, I love celebrating the hope He brings into our lives.

This year our decor has sadly been put off. Too many things going on, we just haven’t gotten all bright and merry in this house. Oh, it’s been merry, just not twinkling and glittering yet. Last night I wrapped my first present……

And set up my first Christmas decoration, also our most important….

I still need to add the candles but there is still time for that. If nothing else were to get set up in our house, that’s okay. Amidst the glitz and sparkle, for us, this little bitty manger scene is our hope for the season. What does your family celebrate? Have you “decked your halls” yet? What traditions do you have in decorating for the holidays?

I would love to hear from you.

I’m joining my friend Barb at Frugal Local Kitchen this season as we share ideas for all things Christmas. Check out the links in her post for some more great decorating ideas and inspiration.
