Cleaning doesn’t have to be full of chemicals or expensive products. Keep it green and keep it clean with cheap and easy to use products.
Clean that microwave – 2 ingredients, one bowl
Carpet Spot cleaning:
I have only done this on light colored carpets so I cannot guarantee what will happen on dark colored carpet. I recommend testing in an inconspicuous spot as you would with any other carpet cleaners. If you try it on dark you may have to do an extra rinse.
- Sprinkle a little baking soda on the spot.
- Pour on some white vinegar.
- Let set a few minutes.
- Blot or gently scrub if it’s a spot that won’t spread.
- Rinse.
- Repeat if need be.
Burnt on stove gunk (NOT for glass top):
- Sprinkle a little baking soda on the spot.
- Grab a wet rag and scrub it off.
- The abrasive baking soda helps clean it off without scratching the stove.
Glass top stove – COOL SURFACE:
- Use baking soda or mix a little vinegar or lemon juice with water and wipe the stove top down.
I found this quite by accident when I dripped lemon juice on the stove top and it washed up that yucky burnt on sugar in no time. Nice smooth cook top!

Save money on cleaning – DIY Cleaning Rags:
Conserve water even without a rain barrel.
- Cut the top off a milk jug.
- Keep the front pour spout narrow, preferably in a v shape. (smaller than I did)
- Place it/them outside and catch water for your indoor and outdoor plants.
- Watch that you don’t leave it set long enough to collect mosquitos.
I need to pin the DIY draino. We’ve been trying to do DIY cleaners – and I had NO idea there was a way to unclog pipes without buying the actually stuff!
I only found out because one place we lived in needed de-clogged like every stinking month. I was tired of buying all that nasty chemical stuff!
Have you tried the spot removal on old stains or fresh ones only? I’ve got to get rid of some stains!
My stains are probably no more than 6 months old. For older stains let it set on there a little longer and maybe use a soft scrub brush or carpet brush would be best since scrub brushes can mess up the look/texture of the carpet. GL!
