It’s always nice to know ahead of time if a trip is going to be worth it or not. I generally have to travel a distance for good kids clothing sales and in all honesty, didn’t usually know too much about them before I showed up. Because of that I have certain ones I go to but I won’t try out a new one more than once or twice a season if I have no feedback on it. After all, Avondale is 30 minutes or more from just about every sale there is. That’s a lot of mileage with a potential for little return.
On top of that, some of you know I am trying to work on a $150 budget for THREE kids. Yes, winter coats, shoes, and all!!! $50 per kid doesn’t go far.
My favorite sales are –
Chester County Moms of Multiples – It is HUGE!!! (and has the lines to prove it) However, I always make out awesome a this sale. It is a do not miss sale for me. Oh, plus it has that whole Black Friday vibe minus people ripping things out of your hands.
Just Between Friends, West Chester – Ok, they are a bit pricey. I admit. I go, buy what I HAVE to have or cannot turn down for the price and make out so much better at the 50% off sale. (Sorry if you consign there) They know me too. haha. No, not for real but they remember me every season and THINK they know me from somewhere. I am sad. I won’t be able to go this year.
Just Between Friends, Oaks – Never been but my sister has gone twice and LOVES it. She makes out really great and says the pricing is much better than West Chester JBF.
Elam Sale -Elam Methodist Church has a sale every season. One of my favorites and I make out very well there. They have great pricing, large quantities, and they are friendly. The downside is that you have to sort through mountains of clothes versus hanging racks.
Kennett Preschool Sale – I love anything close by but I have great results here too. I have always found some treasure – like the other year they had a REAL metal Radio Flyer wagon for $20. I couldn’t decide so let it go. It was still there at 50% day! Best deal EVER.
West Grove UMC – I have gotten quite a few good things here. However, I wouldn’t drive 30 minutes to get to it.
PJPII – Pope John Paul II in Downingtown/Coatesville. At first glance it looked small and it really isn’t huge but I got so many things there for incredibly good pricing!!! I would travel again.
Avon Grove Charter School sale, Kemblesville – This is the first time I went and honestly, I am glad it is so far from so many of you, haha. No, I would love if you could go to it but it is far!!! It took me about 15 minutes into the middle of nowhere, in a direction I never go. I could have done a lot of damage there though if I only had more budgeted money left!!!!
So now for some misses –
Well, I don’t have too many really. Some just look too small for me to travel to or are too far but the ones I can think of are –
“The one at the church on Main St. in Wayne” I can’t remember the name of it at the moment. It’s a pain to park and you have to feed a meter. The selection and set up was awful. They did have an area of Outlet clothes that was decent – $5 for boys sample jeans. That isn’t bad but I wouldn’t drive that far just to see if they still have it.
Garnet Valley moms – Ok, so maybe I was too late for the good stuff (It had opened about 3 hours before I got there but ran 2 days) Over priced!!! Seriously I was trying to keep the look disbelief off my face. Seriously, Baby Phat stains just as bad as Wal Mart brand. Okay, I actually didn’t even recognize half the names so it isn’t like I could go “WOW! Jackie and Jane for $5!” It was more like “Hm, $7 for Baby Bundle??!!! What the heck is THAT brand?”
Bundle of Joy – I don’t even know if they are planning more sales. It was at West Chester YMCA. Oh let me count the ways – pricing, they had a ton of home business etc. vendors that I felt you couldn’t get away from, and I still have an impression of not so friendly people although I don’t know if that was real or because I wasn’t impressed with sale over all.
