Key Lime Popsicles

The end of “summer” is quickly approaching but there is still plenty of time left for heat and humidity. August tends to be a super hot and humid one for us so while school is drawing near, signaling the end of summer days, there is still need for chilly treats. I finally bought a popsicle maker and quick and easy popsicles are on the menu almost every day. Yesterday we had Key Lime Popsicles.

My middle child loves the key lime pie yogurt made by a popular yogurt company. Me? Not so much. The amount of junk and coloring in them has put them on my hit list. It isn’t coming in my house even for a special treat.

The kids also learned the hard way that the majority of brightly colored and attractively marketed popsicles aren’t melting in my car or taking up residence in my freezer either. There is zero reason we need the heavily dyed popsicles when we can make our own, almost gourmet tasting popsicles at home.

Don’t get me wrong, if you indulge in a brightly colored or designed popsicle occasionally, I don’t think it’s the end of the world. In fact, if we are somewhere and the kids are offered a brightly colored chilly treat I’m not saying no. I just don’t think they need to be fed them on a routine basis.

Popsicles are serious business.

Key Lime Popsicles are super easy to make and are quite healthy compared to many other treats. Plus you can have your Cherry Limeade and eat Key Lime Popsicles all at the same time. I used my  Limeade base as the flavor for the yogurt for these popsicles. Even my pickiest eater was happy with her healthified popsicle.

Mommy, my popsicle punched me in the eye. (Not really!)

I am LOVING these Push Pops.
