  • 2 cups whole wheat flour
  • 2 tablespoons sugar
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 6 tablespoons cold butter
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1/8 cup Golden Door fig preserves
  • Plus fig preserves to serve on side

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 375°
  2. Mix dry ingredients together.
  3. Cube butter and cut into dry ingredients until mixture is crumbly.
  4. Lightly beat egg and mix into flour and butter mixture.
  5. Mix until all flour and egg is incorporated.
  6. Pat dough out to about 1 inch thick and dot with fig preserves.
  7. Gently fold dough over and mix preserves into the dough somewhat.
  8. Separate dough into 2 even sized balls.
  9. Pat out in circle approximately 1/2 inch thick on parchment paper or lightly greased baking tray.
  10. Cut each circle into 6 pieces, not quite cutting the whole way through dough.
  11. Bake 20 minutes or until baked through.
  12. Serve warm with extra fig preserves and whipped or clotted cream.
