Who gets too much junk in their email? *raises hand* I am sure we can all think of at least one company that sends too many emails.
**This post has been sponsored by AWeber and Build Your Influence Summit, which I am excited to be going to. All opinions on email are my own.**
But here’s the thing. Why do we sign up for emails? There are a myriad of reasons, but most of the time it’s because we want to hear from that company for some reason – whether it is sales, news, or coupons, they offer something we are looking for.
As businesses, the problem comes in when we stop valuing others’ time and just have so much information we want to get out, or sales we want to make, that we look at that person who chose us as a target, seeing them as a number instead of a human relationship.
I think the email world would be a much better place if businesses and marketers stopped looking at people as just a number on the spreadsheet. If they (we) looked at each person as a live human being who has feelings and interests just like we do. Really, is it any surprise that people click ‘unsubscribe’ when we aren’t giving them what we ourselves want?
So, to you, my fellow businesses, I challenge you to look at your email audience with new eyes. Is that last email you sent something YOU would want to receive? How will you change your email campaign to get back to the basics? The basics where we view our readers as humans who want to know us and deserve to be valued.
When we do that, email marketing can help us convert consumers into loyal followers who love us and want what we have to offer. And you know what can help that? A good email marketing service.
To you, my dear readers, I offer you an every other week email with the basics. Since I would dearly love to receive a special recipe to my email before anyone else sees it, I offer you one. And I don’t offer it every week because too much email gets old. That handy little sign up bar at the top of the page? That’s where you can get in on the cooking fun. And P.S. I do dearly love loyal readers and love to know what you like or don’t like in an email. Drop me a comment or send me an email.
