We recently got home from our big road trip and the snacks were dwindling the last few days. With 3 kids individual snacks don’t always break down evenly, and when they do it seems my husband or I break the “even”. This means we end up with an extra this and that, and the same was true for our road trip. We finished up the odds and ends and leftover cereal with a Sweet and Spicy Snack Mix. Don’t worry. You don’t have to go on a road trip to enjoy this snack because it also makes a great and easy back to school snack.
Along with dwindling snacks we also have a Whole Foods exclusive flavor of Popcorn Indiana – Sriracha – that was going stale. My kids love spicy but this is a bit too spicy on its own. Mixing it into our leftover snack mix created a perfect sweet and spicy snack mix that balanced out the heat.
I try really hard to give you exact measurements in most recipes but this one is not quite so measured and that’s okay. This means you can tailor portions for your kids’ tastes and size. I dare you not to snitch a few pieces for yourself. It’s addicting.
