The beauty of this recipe is that it is so adaptable. It is also incredibly easy to make. I threw it together in 10 minutes at 5 AM the other day.

Sausage – links or loose – the amount you need for your family
Cabbage – cut in chunks, the amount you need for your family (I used purple this time)
1 medium to large onion – sliced length wise into thin wedges
3 garlic cloves or 1 TBS minced garlic
Small potatoes/large potatoes cubed into 2 inch chunks- however many you need
2 cups of water or 1 bottle of beer
Salt and Pepper to taste

Put half of your cabbage on the bottom of the pan (It will cook down to mush so if you want to just put it all on top you can but I like to keep the potatoes off the bottom.) Add your potatoes, then sausage, then rest of cabbage. Add onion and garlic to top. Add salt and pepper, then pour your liquid over it all.

Cook in crock pot on low for 6 – 8 hours. I have let it cook up to 11 hours but if you can set your crock pot on low and have it switch to warm after 7-8 hours I would do that.

Also, you can add any spices you want. Crushed pepper for a spicier kick. You can also throw in some fresh or dried parsley, chili powder, or oregano.
