It’s a chilly fall day and there is nothing like having something yummy cooking in the crockpot. This week I am trying Easy Autumn Cake from Fix it and Forget it. After we try it I will write my recipe review. At the bottom of this post I will share a link to a yummy looking soup my friend is making in her crockpot.
Easy Autumn Cake
Cooking Time: 3-5 hours
Ideal Slow Cooker Size: 3½-4-quart (I am using a 6 quart)
2 16-oz. cans sliced apples, undrained (not pie filling) OR
6 cups fresh apples, peeled and sliced ( I am using fresh)
18¼ -oz. pkg. spice cake mix ( I am using a white mix and adding cloves, nutmeg, and cinnamon – I iwll let oyu know how much in my review)
1 stick (½ cup butter), melted
½ cup pecans, chopped (skipping since nut allergies are in our household)
Spray interior of slow cooker with nonstick cooking spray.
Spoon apples and their juice into slow cooker, spreading evenly over the bottom.
Sprinkle with dry spice cake mix.
Pour melted butter over dry mix. Top with chopped pecans.
Cook on Low 3-5 hours, or until a toothpick inserted into topping comes out dry.
Serve warm from cooker.
