I received this gorgeous gift box from Rose Romano’s to review.
I love getting free things. Who doesn’t? Even better is when you see a box at your door and have no idea what it is. You don’t recognize the return address so you open it as quickly as you can, excited to see what’s inside. Last Thursday’s box had the gift box from Rose Romano’s with four jars of yummy marinara nestled inside – 2 pints of Italian Peppers Marinara with Red Bell Pepper, and 2 pints of Italian Peppers Marinara with Green Bell Pepper. Rose Romano’s Marinara is low calorie, gluten free and made with wholesome and real ingredients – no synthetic flavors or unpronounceable words on their ingredient list. It stars the distinct rich flavors of the beautiful bell pepper. The best part is that my label reading 7year old can understand everything on the ingredients’ list!
Forget wine! This tasty gourmet sauce would make a great hostess gift if you can keep it long enough to give to someone else. We already used 3 jars. I attempted ravioli for the second time and you obviously can’t use $1 sale tomato sauce when you already made and rolled your own pasta and stuffed it with grass-fed beef, cloth bound cheddar and truffle infused Fromage D’Affinois. I used the Italian Peppers Marinara with Red Bell Peppers to finish our ravioli. The sauce is slightly sweet with a mild red bell pepper taste. With chunks of red pepper through out it is a smooth and chunky sauce combined. We really loved the flavor and it complimented the ravioli very well. My husband is not a huge bell pepper fan. Actually, he cannot stand things with bell pepper flavor but he said it was pretty good and wouldn’t mind having it again. Believe me when I say this is huge coming from him.
I also tried the Marinara with Green Bell Peppers as I made a gourmet lasagna for him to take in his lunch Saturday – a perk of having to work weekends is that I try to make him special meals to take since no one really wants to work the weekend. I wan’t sure he would to like the Green Bell Pepper Marinara as well. He didn’t. It has a little harsher of a flavor so if you aren’t a huge fan of green peppers, I would stick with the Red Bell Pepper Marinara. I like them both and would use each one for different dishes. For dishes like stuffed peppers or sweet sausage where I am going for a little less of a sweet flavor I will use the Marinara with Green Bell Pepper. For dishes that have a kick to them, like hot sausage, pizza, or our new favorite ravioli, I will use the Marinara with Red Bell Pepper to bring it down a notch.
I give Rose Romano’s Gourmet Marinara a 9.5 out of 10.
*10 for the red bell pepper taste
*9 for the green pepper taste
*10 for easy to use
*10 for presentation
*9 for availability – this will be a 10 soon because I know they are working hard to
bring it to more store shelves in the area.
*10 for great ingredients
