So yes, this is a “deal post” because it was FREE for me and a guest. Fun Finds for Families hosted a give away for the movie Real Steel. THANK YOU!!! She had 10 2-packs of tickets to give away and I am so sorry. I meant to post her giveaway for other people to check out and completely forgot!!!
First off, the tickets were to a PRE-SCREENING. As such, they are first come, first served. They over “sell” to ensure a full audience. This means you GO EARLY!!!!
Dave had to work so I asked my brother to go with me. The movie started at 7 PM in King of Prussia and we got there just after 5:30. After our experience with Lion King 3D I didn’t want to get there and not get to see the movie because I was too late. Well, we were 3rd and 4th in line. It really wasn’t that bad. We waited until around 6:40 to be seated. Plus, 1.5 hours of waiting isn’t a bad price to pay for 2 movie tickets!!
The guys in front of me were avid “free pre-screen movie goers”. They gave me some great tips, filled me in on where to look for free pre-screenings, gave me an idea of what to expect for crowd/waits in the future and were just an over all wealth of information. They were completely opposite in looks, socio-economic standing, age, etc. but from listening to them it sounded like they got to know each other through pre-screens, as did several other people they welcomed as they entered the theater.
So, on to the movie. I admit it looked a bit strange when I saw the trailer. I am not into robots, sci/fi, futuristic stuff at all. However, this movie was really, really good. I rarely like to see a movie twice because I remember way too many details and knowing what happens next bores me to tears. I came home and told Dave I would watch it again. I actually would pay to go to the movies to see it with him if he really wanted to but would prefer to wait for it to come out on DVD for $$ sake.
I don’t want to really tell you much about the story line of movie because, well, that would ruin it but it is about fighting robots and a man’s struggle to really be who he is and know who he is. It’s about so much more than that but ack, I don’t want to ruin it!!! I am detailed so odds are I would give too much information. I was hooked through the whole thing and while I don’t get super involved in a movie, many people in the audience were. It is the most involved I have ever seen an audience. YOU HAVE TO SEE IT!!!!
It is rated PG-13. There were some kids there but I personally would not take my 8 year to see it. There was quite a bit of language, including very clear swearing coming from the 11 year old in the movie. In my opinion it didn’t need to be there and it would not have hurt the story line at all if they let it out. Obviously it was about FIGHTING robots so there was fighting in it, gambling, and some drinking.
You can see real Steel in theaters starting October 7. If you see it let me know what you thought of it.
