We can all use a little reminder on great ways to cut the food budget, right? I know I needed to read through my own frugal tips for these reminders. A couple months ago I shared that I had something BIG I would share when I was able. Well, now I am able.
Our family is MOVING! We don’t know WHEN but the plan is sometime by fall. We do know WHERE. I can only laugh because I kid you not, ever since we left Vermont 8 years ago next month, I have said “I will only move back to New England if God picks me up and sets me there.” Last summer it became very clear to us that that’s where we need to be, so we go. We are planning a move to Manchester, NH.
As I’ve told friends over the last couple months, one of the biggest questions I get is, “Could plans change?” Sure. Plans can always change. However, it is highly unlikely unless something crazy big happens, that this new journey won’t continue with a moving truck headed to Manchester. We have spent months praying and questioning and every question has been answered with more positive direction that way.
So what are we doing picking it all up and leaving our family, friends, and church? Our family will be part of a church plant in Manchester, New Hampshire, where we will be building community and friendship, reaching out a hand to help people in the city.
I could have waited until we know when the big move is but there are so many things I have wanted to write about in this process and not been able to and I really didn’t want some of you to find out through a random blog post mention.
What does this have to do with my frugal tips post? Well, we need to save every penny we can and food is one way we will be doing so. Not only do we anticipate needing to buy more meals on the go (and have increased the budget for that, which means I need to decrease the grocery budget), but we need to set aside some money for this move.
I won’t pretend it’s going to be easy. It will be difficult. It’s already been filled with tears and “last times”, and we know there are many more to come. It’s never easy pulling up roots and I plan to share some of the tearing and tears because that’s what I’m all about here – being real. I hope you’ll stay with me through this venture. No worries, I’ll still be making it food and travel based. In fact, I have a yummy travel/food post coming from the most recent trip Dave and I took on how we ate our way back from New Hampshire. It’s a tasty one!
Congrats on the move! You are going where you need to be and I know your family will thrive. We will miss you here in Philly!
Congratulations! You never know where God will take you. May your journey be smooth NFL the transition smoother.
