It’s Mother’s Day. I’m talking to all you mamas out there who may be tired, exhausted, just plain worn out. At this point you don’t even care about elaborate gifts. You just want your kids to STOP FIGHTING. You feel guilty because really, all you want on this “honored day” is a day away from them … weekend away from them … if it’s really bad, a WEEK away from them. I get it. I struggled with guilt as we headed into a weekend focused on moms and here my children were fighting yet again. The last thing I care(d) about was a gift. Frankly, it doesn’t feel like love. Quiet feels like love. Obedience feels like love. In this crazy weekend, take a moment out. If you can, get a sitter, leave the kids with your husband, swap a few hours with a friend and go see Mom’s Night Out.
I’m a ‘once and done’ kind of girl. Show me a movie once and I’m generally good for life, or at least many years. I’m going to see Mom’s Night Out for the second time tomorrow night. It’s refreshment to my soul. Every single mom I know that has seen it has loved it. There’s a character in there we each can relate to, whether it’s being the perfect mom, the struggling blogger mom, the single mom who wonders if she’s going to make it through, or the mom who just can’t take another marker on the wall kind of day.
Be prepared to laugh OR cry, but mostly, just be prepared to have your mind and soul refreshed to do this mommy thing another day, another lifetime. Take time to go see this movie. You must! If you do nothing else for YOU all month, GO SEE THIS MOVIE. The greatest thing about it? It’s safe for all audiences. Don’t take your kids this time because quite honestly you need a break, but it’s safe for even kids to watch.
My hope and prayer for you this week is that you will feel refreshed in your role as mother. Even if you don’t feel like those flowers or store bought cards mean a thing right now, realize that your kids aren’t perfect but they are yours and they do love you – in their own often ‘me centered’ kind of world way.
Oh, and the main character? Take out the coloring on the walls and mascara streaked face but otherwise that crazy life is where I am right now.

**Disclaimer: I was offered tickets in exchange for sharing my review. I gladly accepted them since I was planning to review it anyway. Hands down one of the best movies.
