**Note: For a non-alcoholic drink try Coke or Root Beer.**
Over the summer I was introduced to a strawberry beer float. Strawberry Ice cream topped with a strawberry wheat ale, it was the perfect touch to a dwindling summer. I became obsessed with the thought. Okay, not really obsessed, but I started dabbling in mixing up some flavors and making my own creations. I am not alcohol expert but it really isn’t hard – ice cream and beer. For St. Patrick’s Day I decided to try a Chocolate Mint Beer Float.
I always loved a good root beer float but after having a beer float I have to say root beer floats are a bit too sweet for me. I love the contrast of the beer and sweet ice cream. The only question was “What beer do I choose?”
Since it’s St. Patrick’s Day themed I wanted to go with an Irish Beer. Reading up on beer I came across the Guinness Draught, which is brewed in Dublin. I am going to be honest here. I am not much of a Guinness fan but I decided to give it a try. Guinness Draught is a stout so we are off to a good start. I like stout. I like chocolate mint ice cream, and I like Chocolate Mint Beer Floats – in moderation.
1 glass
3 scoops Chocolate Mint Ice Cream
1 Bottle of beer/soda
Serve.
[…] St. Patrick’s Day is coming soon and when I hear St. Patrick’s Day, I think green, Irish potatoes, and corned beef – in that order. I love Irish Potatoes. My husband doesn’t. That is awesome. It means the sweet little trays of them that you can buy are all my very own. Or, I can make them myself for a fraction of the cost. The downside to that is the whole batch is all my very own. I think it’s time to have a party and share those Irish Potatoes I whipped together. My suggestion is to have these BEFORE dinner and finish the evening off with a Chocolate Chip Mint Beer Float. […]
