Unlike the groundhog I am popping my head back in a hole this morning. It’s gloomy and chilly outside today. I was looking back through pictures this morning and I am wistfully thinking of Opening Day at Sesame Place 2013. It was gorgeous, the sun was shining, the tank was clean….oops, wrong day…that was Finding Nemo, the movie. Anyway, it was a gorgeous sunny day. Warm but not too warm, just perfect for soaking up the sun and rides.
We were invited to Sesame Place for Opening Day as members of the media. We were given 4 tickets and since my husband ended up being able to come another friend shared an extra ticket with us. We walked into the park at 10:15 ready to go. There was a great debate about what ride we would get in line for first. Since the roller coaster was right there I judiciously decided that is where we would start. K isn’t such a fan so we stood below and watched – he quite anxiously made sure they made it on the ride and survived the minute or two it hurtles through the air.
After that we wandered over to the media area where we enjoyed Elmo Cupcakes, chocolate chip cookies, and Elmo shaped pretzels. To my surprise I saw someone wearing a bathing suit so I popped on over to the water park. My goodness, IT WAS OPEN!!! Hello people! April 27 and there were kids braving the water park. I wasn’t quite that brave but I did get pictures because between the sun, the sparkling water, and water rides, I was longing for summer….just like I am today.
After our treats we decided to tackle the nets. Sesame Place has a huge area of climbing nets over a soft play area. Last time 1 boy climbed the stairs and came right back down to MOMMY who refused to hit the nets. Then minutes later daddy had to drag two crying kids back down. This time I was determined to tackle them. Good grief, if I can trapeze a few little old nets shouldn’t be a big deal. We all climbed a net – a net that went very very very high – all of us. Once we got to the top we took a picture as proof. I couldn’t convince them to try the net tunnels but one obstacle at a time. We climbed the nets and that is what matters.
We rode a few more rides, each kid picking their favorite, and after 4 hours, called it a day.
Tips and Tricks:
Don’t forget the sunscreen.
Buy the Elmo Ticket – for the price of a single day ticket you can go 2 days and the second day can be any day in the season.
If you have little ones, take a stroller – they will get tired.
Take towels and swimwear so you can hit the water park. I can’t wait to check out the “lazy river”.
Pack a lunch or grab some lunch there. They have great kid friendly options.
Take your camera. DON’T FORGET!!
HAVE FUN!!! Kids and Adults alike can have fun at Sesame Place.
