Goshen Donuts, a Husband, and a Breakfast Sandwich

Funny but winning combination for a blog post (and breakfast) as you will see. Let’s start with the important item. No, not the husband you silly person—the donuts. These donuts are the stuff of dreams to many people in our area. Available only a few times per year, they are coveted year ’round and break may a firm diet each summer, with their hot, sugary, and slightly greasy softness, trapped in a paper bag. This story is all about the donuts. Well, a little bit about the husband too since he is the sidekick to these superstar donuts.

Months ago my husband drove past this little sign that said “Goshen Donuts here today”. I said they just forgot to put away the sign from summer. He said it was worth going into the little shop to investigate. Then one day I somehow ended up talking to the owner of those siren donuts and found out he was indeed selling them at this little shop every Saturday.

That’s it. My husband was sold. He had to buy those donuts. Last Saturday morning was THE DAY. He brilliantly suggested, “Hey, why don’t we make breakfast sandwiches out of Goshen Donuts?”

I not so brilliantly said, “You’re cooking, so whatever floats your boat.”

He brought back half a dozen not quite so piping hot and fresh but still so yummy donuts, split the 6th with me, and made these little delectable creations.

Angels did not sing. Sailors did not meet their doom, but oh the sighs of pleasure.

Goshen donut…
Beef bacon…
Jarlsberg Cheese…
Free range egg…
…Sublime breakfast.
