My allergies have been horrible, which means my throat doesn’t feel so hot either.
I try all sorts of things:
Throat sprays – make my tongue and mouth feel all fuzzy. No thanks!
Shot of honey and lemon- eh, it’s ok
Lemon juice – ICK!
Ice water – I’m floating and my ice melts too fast.
Tea – some helps, some hurts
Frappuccinos – yeah, pricy and tons of sugar
Coolattas – yup, just what I and my throat need -even more sugar
Cepacol throat drops – how does it get to your throat??!! My tongue
was completely numb!
Enter my new thing.
Lemon Ginger “Tea”
Thinly slice half a lemon into a mug
Dice up some crystallized ginger. I used a piece a bit larger than a
Add half a tablespoon , you know, the larger kitchen spoon of honey.
Pour almost boiling water over it.
Steep 5 minutes.
It was so soothing and easy to make. Experiment with amounts to find the strength that works for you. You can also pour over ice for a refreshing cold drink.
