We were offered free tickets to visit the Garden State Discovery Museum in order to share our experience with you and of course I didn’t turn them down. As a family we are always looking for new adventures and trying it free first is always a great opportunity.
The Garden State Discovery Museum is located in Cherry Hill, NJ, so just a hop, skip and jump across the river for us. We took an afternoon during spring break and made it a field trip. The website says it is geared for infants through 10 years old and I would say that is pretty accurate. My 5 year old would have loved to be there all day but my 7 and 9 year old were content with an hour and then were ready to hit the road. I would say that the best age range to take kids is 3-7. Every corner is filled with some new wonder to draw kids in and get their imaginations soaring.
Become a chef at California Fraction Kitchen….
….or captain your own boat.
Check out the turtle habitat, the scorpions, some type of lizard, and a corn snake.
Select your produce at the farmer’s market, carefully weighing and purchasing only the best selections.
Next we’re off to learn the moon’s phases, inspect the periodic table of the elements….
…then to enjoy a quick lunch at the Silver Diner.
Next we change a tire or two or four at the Subaru station so we can take our cat to the vet for some shots. Shhh, don’t tell him where he’s going. He hates the vet.
After that we pop on over to sports arena. One kid shoots hoops and another plays for the Flyers. Not really sure who wins but no fights break out so let’s move on.
Next we explore the wonderful world, of dinosaurs, digging up fossils and exploring the skeleton of an ancient dinosaur, before being dragged on set for a quick taping of the weather, courtesy of ABC news. Man those are some cute looking kids.
But never fear, they aren’t exhausted yet! After a hole or two of mini golf they go rock climbing and travel back in time, becoming knights and princess in a fairy tale of old. Shh, what’s that I hear? I think it’s a trumpet….
Oops, never mind. That was just my stomach growling. Thankfully there is a food court right inside the museum designed by IKEA. However, if you would rather visit a restaurant there are many to choose from less than 15 minutes away – from fancy to casual, sit down or drive through, you can choose whatever your heart or stomach I should say, desires.
