Today we are going there – bra shopping. Well, not really, and no, there will be no pictures, except for the Barely There display table from the event I went to Saturday. I’m not divulging sizes, personal details or any shock value, unless me talking about bras is shock value enough for you. Just as what you wear matters, what people don’t see matters too. You have to find the bra that fits YOU and that may change as your body changes.
Here’s the thing. Making sure you have the right bra MATTERS. I’m sure most of you have tried on or bought a bra, tried it with clothes and were like “Say what?” Madonna like cone shape, flat as a pancake, lumpy, double chest, pin up girl quality – sometimes they just don’t work. The right underclothes can make a whole lot of difference in your shape and the fit of your clothes. Try them on before you buy AND make sure you try them with a shirt over top. Sometimes it looks so different. So, now that you know to check for the look, how about the size?
Throw out “size matters”. It doesn’t. Your chest size doesn’t make you beautiful no matter what mainstream media wants to say. However, the right bra size DOES matter. No shame in getting measured and many stores offer measuring days. The wrong size will affect your shape and comfort level. Get fitted. You might be surprised to find you were wearing the wrong bra all along and just that little change can change how you look and feel about YOU. But as the ladies at Barely There say, “It isn’t BIGGER that matters, it’s BETTER.”
Did you know that wearing a too small bra can push everything into your back? Some of that excess weight under your arm or in your back might actually be the fact you have the wrong bra size. you learn something new every day.
A big thanks to Barely There at the Mom Mixer event I attended in Philadelphia for giving me a Barely There bra and panty set. I admit the bra isn’t my usual style but I was pleasantly surprised and am looking for it in stores next time I shop!
Also thanks to Whitney at Mommies With Style and Colleen at Classy Mommy for hosting such an amazing event. You ladies did awesome!
