I was happy to receive an invitation to preview Farmer’s Road Drive Thru, a new “better for you” fast food restaurant and drive thru that has come to the Chadd’s Ford, Glen Mills area. Specializing in fresh, local, organic and delicious, they get an A+ after this mama’s taste test. The kids were happy too. Since I am out there several times a week, this will be my new go-to Chadds Ford restaurant.
Meet Courtney Rozsas, owner of the new Farmer’s Road.
I have been saying we need healthier fast food, where quality ingredients matter most and we know where the food comes from. I am a huge fan of the frequently updated chalkboard that tells the customer where their products are sourced from. I also love the theme and decor of the restaurant. Simple, with farm style touches, it is designed utilizing many re-purposed or up-cycled products. It always struck me as strange when “green”, “sustainable” and “eco-friendly get thrown around by companies then they go overboard in products that are very obviously commercialized products that are anything but eco-friendly, green, or sustainable. If you throw it around you better own it. Farmer’s Road owns it.
The scene was set with smiling servers holding trays of bite sized samples from their menu and Mason Porter set up in the corner, providing the perfect music styling for the event – their blend of folk, rock, blues and bluegrass. As we entered the adults were given small cups of champagne with a mint leaf floating in it. Time to celebrate! Kids and adults alike were able to sample the New Hope Soda Fountain – delicious soda sweetened with cane sugar rather than high fructose corn syrup. My favorite was the Ginger Zinger and my kids loved the Pennsylvania Red Birch Beer, another of my favorites.
Now on to the most important thing – the food. I’m starting with the SWEET because who doesn’t love dessert? We sampled caramel popcorn served in paper cones, “hidden greens” smoothies, and peanut butter potato chips. Yum, yum, and yum. I call the smoothies “hidden greens” because they made them with spinach “hidden” in blueberry purple. The kids won’t even know it’s there. The peanut butter potato chips were fresh and unique. My kids had mixed opinions but I think they were great. The caramel popcorn, we all agreed, was a sweet spot home run.
Next we sampled Kobe Beef sliders, Applegate hotdogs with sauerkraut, hummus wraps, buffalo chicken wraps, and apple cheddar grilled sandwiches. I loved the sliders, the hummus and buffalo chicken wraps, and the apple cheddar grilled sandwich. I am not a fan of hotdogs but they aren’t bad at all – it’s just a personal preference. If you are craving a hotdog, you can order them knowing you are getting a quality product. My absolute favorite wrap ever is the buffalo chicken wrap but more often than not they can be heavily breaded and heavy over all. Farmer’s Road Restaurant produces my favorite Buffalo Chicken Wrap hands down. Lightly breaded, nicely crispy, and bursting with bold spice and blue cheese flavor, it’s Buffalo Chicken perfection. I know what my favorite order will be.
Farmer’s Road will be featuring an oatmeal bar every morning for breakfast and a pickle bar for lunch. I am going to have to try both. Have I ever told you I LOVE pickles? I heard of pickle bars for the first time last month but it was in Philly. It is going to be awesome having a pickle bar so close to me!
For this preview party they had a table where kids were able to plant sage seeds in little jars, and explore the plant world of Farm Explorer, a Greener Partner. A Greener Partner goes into schools, educating school children on healthy foods, giving them a hands own experience with fresh produce.

That’s ok. You can still have a great time checking it out. 🙂 How great would it have been with fussy kiddos? More stress than fun.
Looks Like I missed a great preview!
