Run to the supermarket and buy some sweet cherries. Now. You need this homemade chocolate cherry sauce in your life.
Cherries are $1.99/lb. at our ALDI and another area supermarket right now. This is the price where I normally would be scooping them up to freeze for the rest of the year but alas, temp housing means that isn’t very feasible.
I’ll be crying in the winter when I don’t have any cherries for chocolate cherry sauce, dark chocolate cherry bread, homemade cherry limeade, or cherry jam. That means I need to enjoy extra cherries right now, and I am.
Eat one, chop one. Eat one, chop one. Works for me. You’ll need approximately 2 handfuls for this recipe and another handful for eating.

Delicious!!! I made the decision to immersion blend to get more cherry flavor out of the fruit piece and to try and smooth out the texture.
Have you ever strained it to get the errant pieces of fruit skin or anything like that?
★★★★★
Great idea on using the immersion blender! I haven’t strained it – mainly because I just never feel like taking the extra step and making more dishes.
What do you do to store the sauce? How long does it last?
Hi Agnes. I’m sorry I missed your comment. I store the sauce in a jelly jar in the refrigerator. It generally lasts a couple weeks – if we don’t gobble it up before that. Just watch for it to start molding.
