Who knew kids like oatmeal? I’m not talking flavor mix packets ready to go in the microwave type oatmeal. I am talking rolled oats cooked with a few dried cranberries sprinkled in and topped with a very small amount of raw sugar and doused in milk.
My kids use to be “those” kids who didn’t eat oatmeal unless it was masked with artificial flavors. That is until I started making it once a week (with complaints) and one day it just clicked. I started out heavy on the dried fruit and gradually cut it back.
Today was Oatmeal Day 2 for this week and they still said “Yay! Oatmeal!”
So don’t give up if your kids turn their nose up at oatmeal. Try something new. Have an oatmeal bar where they can choose fruits, nuts, etc. to add in and even let them add some sprinkles. Experiment with different flavor combinations and find something that works.
You never know, your kids just might change their minds about “eeeewww, oatmeal.”
Rather than buying the individual packets full of artificial flavors, too much sugar and processed into barely any real nutritional value, grab a container of rolled or quick oats. Plus? It is a very inexpensive breakfast to make.
