Acme has a General Mill deal this week and Pillsbury Grands were one of the items I purchased. They aren’t generally a staple in our household but I need some quick and easy go to items and since they were .99 AND I had a coupon for them(link to the deal above includes a coupon) I decided they would go on my list.
This morning’s dilemma was no breakfast food in the house except for eggs. No cereal, no bread, no breakfast meat AND we had waffles yesterday. Daddy is home today which means it is a “No oatmeal day”.
I found this recipe for coffee cake and tweaked it.
Preheat oven to 350 and put parchment/wax paper in the bottom of a 9 inch round cake pan (8 inch is fine).
- 1 can 8ct. Grands biscuits
- 1/4 cup sugar
- 1 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1/4 cup raisins
- 2 tbs. melted butter
Put sugar, cinnamon, and raisins in a ziploc bag. Cut biscuits into quarters and ad them to the bag. Pour in melted butter. Close bag and shake it all together then dump it into the pan. Bake for 20-25 minutes.
We served it with “your choice” fruit. Last night we went to Newark Farm Market to stock up and came home with bananas($0.25#), blackberries($1 per 12 oz.), strawberries (2/$3), apples (1.99 per 3# bag), and seedless black grapes ($0.99#). As you can see, even having fruit for breakfast can be inexpensive.
