I despise ranch dressing. I think it is one of the most disgusting dressings to come out of a bottle. In fact, I will eat salad plain before I put ranch dressing on it. That is except for Chili’s Avocado Ranch Dressing.  This is a problem because my family LOVES ranch dressing. Well, they did. One son stopped enjoying food when he started reading labels and couldn’t understand half of what was on the label. Really, I didn’t teach him. He did it on his own.

Since my family loves ranch dressing so much and I refuse to buy most bottled dressings, I need to find solutions. Solution one is our Balsamic Dressing that we love. It does get tiring when there are no options though so the other evening I whipped together a quick dressing. Of course, since I love an Avocado Ranch and I had an avocado I had to throw it in there. Plus, we are garlic lovers. Note: Not a garlic lover? Omit or add less fresh garlic to this recipe. Potent yummy-ness.

avocado ranch dressing recipe

We all loved this ranch dip and I’m not sure they even know the dreaded avocado was in it. Score one for mommy, zero for kids. I used regular sour cream because that is what Dave brought home but next time I am going to use low fat. The recipe made an 8 ounce jelly jar full of this rich creamy thick dressing.

I have had it on salad, as a veggie dip, and even on pretzel flip-sides. Forget  store bought when this is in the house. Best of all I know all the ingredients – fresh herbs, spices and delicious flavors that make a salad burst with flavor.

    1. You should be able to. The oil will make it runnier but the yogurt should keep it thick and creamier. It will change the taste obviously so I can’t vouch for that but I don’t see why it wouldn’t work.
