The kids and I general have very boring Saturdays because my husband works most of them. Last Saturday was no exception but it promised to drag on forever since the next day was to bet he start of our week vacation. However, we were invited to Sesame Place to check out the yearly premiere of ‘A Very Furry Christmas’. I love Christmas. From the time it ends to the time it comes back I love it all. I don’t really get into “Christmas music, décor, fun” until AFTER Thanksgiving but there was no way I was turning down the chance to go back to Sesame Place. My kids have been wanting to know when we were going back since the first time we left.
I have a slightly different perspective on it as I solo parented this time. Actually, I met up with another mom and we did the parent thing together. Our girls became BFF’s for the day. The park is decorated with lights and wreaths and all things Christmas. Quite a change from our Halloween visit but still tastefully done. I love their decorator. No gaudy over the top assault of the senses. Just gorgeous-ness throughout the park.
The kids had fun riding the rides and checking out the lights. We were also invited to a “Meet the Characters” fir hot cocoa, cider, and cookies. So fun!! Gingerbread men, Christmas Tree Rice Krispie treats, and cupcakes galore. While there we also received a voucher for a free family photo and “A Very Furry Christmas” mug. Big Bird won center spot in our picture this time. My mug is getting center spot for my coffee. LOVE the reminder of our great adventure while I drink my coffee.
After dashing from ride to ride – the teacups, the carousel, swings, the droppy thing(Blast Off), and the flying fish, we went to find a spot for the parade. I love the parade. I love pretty much any parade but theirs is especially great. They know kids and they know kids’ attention span is not so very long, even for fun things. The floats and characters were decked for Christmas and put on a fun show. I have to give huge credit to the young people who dance and play in that parade!!! That has got to be tiring but they are bouncy and smiley and so much fun the whole way through.
To make our day even better we had the chance to see the Imagination Movers in concert. I love the Imagination Movers. I need a better camera so I can actually get good pictures but AWESOME!! They are so fun and entertaining. We were a little sad Smitty wasn’t there but he is a fireman and was on duty at home in LA so that’s okay.
Of course the day wouldn’t be complete without lots of pictures. One of the things I love about Sesame Place is the fact they have different backdrops throughout the park so you can have plenty of photo ops with nice backgrounds. Not sure that is one of my kids’ favorite parts. Don’t miss out! You can get your tickets HERE or at the park.
