We were invited to a party at Williams – Sonoma Store located in The Bellevue-Hyatt in Philadelphia PA. Hands down, one of my favorite stores is a kitchen store. You just don’t want to go into a kitchen store with me – EVER. I generally have no money to spend at the kitchen store but I can be there for, well, 2 hours or more. I love, love, love looking at it all – the newest baking products, gourmet sauces, kitchen gadgets, small appliances, bakeware, cookware, cookbooks, knives, EVERYTHING. I worked in a kitchen store once upon a time and it was one of my favorite jobs EVER. People and Kitchen products equal love for me.
As you can well imagine, it was the best thing ever to have a PARTY in a kitchen store. A shiny, gleaming, well displayed kitchen store WITH A STOVE for demonstrations. I was like a kid in a candy store – a very very glammed up kid. My husband and I win best dressed for that night hands down. Not sure what to expect, we dressed in cocktail attire and let me tell you, it was fun. What girl doesn’t love a chance to get all dressed up and pretty? Yeah, I know. Some don’t, but I love it. I also absolutely LOVE how great the picture of us turned out and am glad I am able to purchase a copy of it. Thank you Al B For!

The star cookbook for the night was Barefoot Contessa Foolproof: Recipes You Can Trust. One of my favorite chefs EVER, the book is amazing. Well, at least the recipes we sampled were – caramelized bacon, which my husband said was excellent, jalapeno cheddar crackers, that are going on my next entertainment list, Tuscan Mashed Chickpeas, and parmesan crisps.
The main event, however, was a cooking demonstration where Executive Chef Richard Hebben from XIX Restaurant of Bellevue Hyatt, made us Kabocha Stuffed Ravioli. Filled with ricotta, mascarpone and kabocha, he served the ravioli with a pesto sauce and roasted sweet peppers. Forget anything else. If I drove all the way to Philly JUST for that one delicious ravioli, it was worth it all. EVERY. SINGLE .SECOND. My mouth is watering just remembering it. The only “low” for me is that the pesto has pine nuts, which can cause an allergic reaction for me. I had Benadryl and an Epi-pen just in case.
You simply have to check out XIX Restaurant when these ravioli are added to the menu after New Year’s. I know I will be, and I will use my 20% off gift certificate, complements of XIX. They had a menu posted for the restaurant that evening and I admit I was surprised their prices really weren’t bad. I for-see quite a few special date nights there in the future. I will even brave my fear of heights for one of these meals. I might ask not to be seated near a window though.
And what cocktail event would be complete without the cocktails? XIX served us Eggnog and Bourbon Cider Punch. Both were very good but we were both chose Bourbon Cider Punch as our favorite.
A huge thanks goes to Aversa PR, Philly Loves Fun, Hyatt Bellevue, Williams Sonoma and Jeffrey Acker, XIX Restaurant and Richard Hebben for giving us this opportunity to get a sitter, get dressed up, try new things, and party without apple juice.
