Um yeah, so we woke up and it was looking pretty cloudy here this morning. That does NOT bode well for plans to hit the amusement park for the day. The weather forecast for Clementon NJ said “Mix of cloud and sun with thunderstorms in the afternoon.”
We decided to risk it. Ha! We literally were within a mile of Clementon Park and Splash World when it started raining….and raining harder!!! I’m cheap. I am really cheap! We actually debated whether the $8 parking was worth it if we didn’t end up getting to ride any rides. We ended up pulling into the parking lot and WE DIDN’T HAVE TO PAY parking. YAY!! We pulled around to the back where they had a pavilion for “Media Moms”, the group of bloggers who had the chance, through Ben FM 95.7, to go to and give away tickets to the park.
I admit, it was a bit awkward since I obviously knew NO ONE there, and of course, most of them know someone or some oneS. They had yummy bagels from Panera bread and then Dora Explorer showed up. Yeah, R loved that. (Em, we got a picture for JoJo).
One of the people with Clementon Park gave us a basic history and facts about the Park which I say was pretty cool to hear but then, I am weird like that. I won’t give them all to you because yeah, my brain will goof all the numbers up and stuff.
I will however tell you what I thought of the park. It is definitely not a huge “more rides than you could ever ride” type of park. I have to say after my last few trips to Dorney Park that was quite nice. It was also much nicer with kids. You weren’t constantly dragging them a mile to get to another part of the park. Overall there were more kid friendly rides (think 6-12) then anything else, I felt. I wouldn’t want to just go with my husband for the day.
My opinion may be a bit biased because the weather kept the crowds away. YES! No long lines! In fact, sometimes we pretty much had the ride to ourselves. The employees were all really friendly with smiles on most of their faces.
E and K insisted on doing the Thunder Drop. This is when we discovered that Chicken Little (K) LOVES amusement park rides. Our little ‘fraidy cat had so much fun. R on the other hand was so bummed that she couldn’t do a lot of the rides her brothers did. Then we discovered Kidland and she was in her element. She had so much fun with the “little kid” rides.
The biggest hit however was Splash World. They all loved Laguna Kahuna and Shipwreck Bay. I enjoyed the chairs while daddy played with the kids in the water.
Overall I was pretty happy with the day. All the rides were working. All the staff was friendly. It seemed quite clean – especially when we made out numerous trips to the bathroom, which I always dread in amusement parks. It was a great family experience and so fun taking the kids to an amusement park for the first time. I would definitely pay to take them for a special summer trip. For a super budget friendly trip, I was told you can go any Monday in August and if you buy your ticket before 11 AM you can get in for $10 (Call to confirm this is true before you go).
Cost: 1 swimsuit since we lost R’s – $5
Breakfast for D and I: $4.23
Lunch: 6.93 (splitting the cost of the lunch meat I bought for today and Wednesday)
Ben Franklin Bridge: $5
Locker (we could have skipped, sigh): $5
Today’s total for SIX people: $26.16
This means we have $123.84 left for the week. Can I do it? Bet I can!!! Tomorrow we are checking out Regal Family summer movies $1 days.
