Several years ago I purchased a set of picture frames from CVS. You know, the value pack for such a great price and then it’s marked on clearance because no one is buying it and finally it is 75% off so you just can’t pass up 10 picture frames for $2? Quite thrifty, right? But then you actually attempt to use them and the plastic is so cheap the props break or fall off without breaking. Thrifty FAIL…or is it?
Then of course we have that yearly calendar, or the calendar we fell in love with and paid way too much money for. Then at the end of the year we realize “love at first sight” has turned into “just one more item to take up space since we can’t bear to throw away this love”. I’m cheap so of course I hoarded the calendar. For many years. I mean, a few years. I only have had my favorite mini sweethearts calendar since, like, 1999. In my defense I thought it would make great decorating material for my future daughter. Problem was my future daughter wasn’t born until 2007. Patience truly is a virtue.
I finally am using the frames and the calendar, except they aren’t in my daughter’s room….yet. Currently they are taking up residence in my “working on turning my living room into an old sweetheart/romantic them. We won’t get into that today except to show you what I did with the frame, the calendar, and some ribbon.
Get creative! Look at what you have laying around or stashed away and create something new, fun, and YOU. I would never have chosen yellow to decorate with but it was what I had and it worked with the pictures. I actually fell in love with it and it works so well with my vision that it’s getting woven throughout the room.
