Almost 2 years ago I started really getting serious about getting fit. I didn’t have some big miraculous change of diet and drop a bunch of weight like some people do because, honestly, I wasn’t eating/drinking a ton of the weight pitfalls anyway. It took (takes) so much hard work and is a constant struggle. The last two years have been full of ups and downs and the biggest down was December 2011 when I had been doing so well and gained almost all the weight back in one month. Thank you Thanksgiving, Christmas and too many cookies.
The last year has been one huge struggle when it comes to fitness. After struggling and working very hard – also known as hitting the gym at 4:45 AM when I am not a morning person, I got just over half the weight back off. Now we are talking about a whopping total of 14 pounds so now, 8 pounds back towards that 14 pounds.
As December 2012 inched closer and closer I was scared that once again, as I had less time to go to the gym and holiday eating hit in full force I was going to go right back up to where I started. It was very timely that I received an invitation to try the A.R.T. Method with Terri Walsh (review to come soon) in online streaming classes. I received one month free to review the product.
December was rough – really really rough. Week one I started to familiarize myself with the program. Week 2 I was so sick I could barely move. Week 3 I threw my hip out and Week 4 I finally had the strength to try again. In one week of being sick I dropped 7 pounds….and gained them back within 3 days. With very little exercise and still eating food, I was worried I would be starting the New Year in a discouraging place with my weight. Thankfully, I did have one help – I barely baked anything with how sick I had been.
Thanks to the limited amount of times I was actually able to follow the A.R.T. Method, not only did I NOT gain weight but I lost 2 pounds in the month of December. I still have a long way to go, and I know getting fit will likely always be a struggle for me but I am going to beat this one. I am going to win this battle no matter how long I need to work at it. No matter how many times you feel like you have failed, dust your shoes off, pick yourself back up and start again. We can do this one step at a time.
Today I am linking up with A Life in Balance.
