Sometimes you goof up and that’s okay. Like me. I thought I ordered a different book to review. Apparently I chose a study guide rather than the book I was looking for. When I goof up it’s easy to put myself through the wringer. Sometimes I need to show grace to even myself. Grace. It’s a word that I have been thinking about a lot lately and it was only fitting that when I had a book to choose to review, I chose “What’s So Amazing About Grace?” by Phillip Yancy…or not.
I think it is easy to forget how we are to live out grace in our everyday lives. It’s sometimes easy to claim grace but how do we give it out? What does grace look like in a world where so much goes against what we believe and hold as truth? “What’s So Amazing About Grace” by Phillip Yancy explores how we relate to grace. With his great study guide meant for small groups to use in companion with his book, he makes it clear from the beginning that he is no expert – “I write as a pilgrim qualified only by my craving for grace” he writes in the first chapter.
The study guide for “What’s So Amazing About Grace” is written and designed for small group study. With sections of Scripture to read together, small group discussion and conversation starters, be prepared to join an adventure into what grace is and how we can relate to others in our world. Be prepared to be challenged, to change your way of thinking. Each week Phillip Yancy closes with passages of Scriptures to take home and study throughout the week, and ends with music on grace to reflect on, to bring God’s amazing grace home to your heart in a whole new way.
Both books are available at Amazon. I know what’s on my buy list. You know, maybe an actual copy of the book I wanted (and need) to read. How do you live out grace?
