Plays and Players, over 100 years old, became a professional theater in 2011 and is launching an all new yearly series in a live theater immersive experience for families. I am so excited to go experience a play there for the first time. I am especially excited about the theme of this first play. P.L.A.Y. is debuting Delaware Mudtub and the Mighty Wampum.

P.L.A.Y, Philadelphia Local Artists for Youth, is local and they are keeping it local -playwright, stories, actors, directors, and designers? All local. As a home school mom and history lover, I am always looking for new ways to teach my kids history and especially want them to know our local history. I love envisioning the past on the ground we walk on. Wondering what, who, where, and when is always so much more fun when you have stories to go with those questions. Delaware Mudtub and the Mighty Wampum promises to do just that.

Delaware Mudtub and the Mighty Wampum explores the stories of the Lenni-Lenape and the mythical creatures they told of in their stories, passed down through the generations. The Lenni-Lenape created beautiful wampum beads which they turned into belts, weaving their stories into the pattern of the belt. This interactive play will weave a wampum belt with the stories of these creatures’ lives. Will you join us for this locally historic adventure?
