Heritage Farm, a 3 acre organic farm, growing produce on the Methodist Home for Children Philadelphia property, is hosting their 3rd annual Heritage Farm Fare at the newly renovated Belmont Mansion on October 8th, from 6PM-8PM.
Heritage Farm educates the the residents of Methodist Home and helps the local community, teaching healthy eating and a healthy life style. They provide resources so children and families can learn about urban farming and agriculture, career training, organization, critical thinking, etc. by educating and including them in the growing process from seed all the way to sale.
At Heritage Farm Fare you will have the opportunity to enjoy locally sourced dishes, prepared by some of the area’s most well-known chefs & restaurants while supporting this great cause! Order your tickets and come prepared for an amazing view and even more amazing food. Wear your party dress and be prepared, rain or shine.
Author’s Note –
I came across Methodist Home for Children several years ago and fell in LOVE with what Methodist Home for Children and Heritage Farm are doing. Rather than just handing out food they give children the opportunity to be involved in helping out with growing it, teaching them life skills and giving them the pride and satisfaction of seeing how the role they play creates food that ends up on their table.
There is nothing better than seeing the “fruit” of what your hard work can do. It gives kids such a sense of accomplishment to see how that food ended up on their plate and to know that they played a role in putting it there. It also teaches them to be able to use the resources they have learned to carry on into adulthood.
