I have never made fondant before. It’s all big and scary and, well, gross. I had heard that marshmallow fondant was pretty good though. Still, it’s scary stuff to make and deal with. I wanted a tiara on my daughter’s 5th birthday cake. Of course, it would be
easier, ahem, cheaper, to make my own. But how does one go about making marshmallow fondant? It’s easy. Here’s the recipe – Marshmallow Fondant.
On top of this venture, I also was on a quest to make a completely egg free cake. I found two recipes that turned out really well. I will share those another day. I did not fare so well with a royal icing recipe. My biggest vent here is the fact that all the “egg free” royal icing recipes actually called for meringue powder -even some big name websites. DO YOUR RESEARCH. Meringue powder has EGGS. Really, that isn’t hard to figure out if you think of the fact that meringue is MADE from egg whites. It’s fine if the average person doesn’t know this but big name websites? Really?
Here commences a cake’s journey from plain Jane to royalty…..
Time to celebrate the 5th birthday of our resident princess!
